Your Right to an Education – All children living in the UK are entitled to free education from the state. If you’re a parent, you must make sure that your children are educated between the ages of 5 and 16.

Your Right to an Education – You may choose to educate your children at home or to send them to a school that is a private school, but you have to make sure that they’re educated. If they’re educated in a school you must make sure that they attend regularly and abide by the school rules.

Once you apply for a school in your local area, you will normally go for a meeting with the teachers to discuss your child’s needs. This is an informal chat, and they discuss the school’s requirements for your child’s education. Some schools, however, are full or you may not meet the requirement to be accepted, so you then would have to apply at another local school.
